AM buys Belgian construction company Carmans

Royal BAM Group nv has acquired the shares of Carmans Spoorwerken nv in Alken (Belgian Limburg). Carmans Spoorwerken has specialised since 1982 in the construction of railway and related peripheral works, particularly in Flanders. The company's annual turnover is approximately €5 million. Carmans Spoorwerken has about fifteen employees. In Belgium, Carmans will work closely with Betonac (BAM's Belgian operating company specialised in road and infrastructure construction, including railway works) and BAM Rail (BAM's Dutch railway construction company, which, together with local sister companies, is also active in Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom).

BAM currently has a number of large railway infrastructure works underway in Belgium, including the Liefkenshoek rail connection near Antwerp, the Diabolo rail tunnel between Zaventem Airport and Brussels, parts of the Regional ExpresNet near Brussels, replacement of rail and overhead cable infrastructure in Duffel and metro works in Charleroi.
