| Rapid fold-up doors at the Polaris Logistics centre near Milan Since the mid-1950s, Polaris has been the world leader in the production and distribution of the famous four-wheeled bikes – better known as Quads – and snowmobiles. Not only that, this American giant invented the snowmobile as far back as 1956, while nowadays its Ranger RZR model is the best-selling quad on the planet. In Italy, Egimotors has been Polaris Industries' trusted partner since 1993 for the European quads, snowmobiles, jet skis and motorcycles market. The logistics centre at Desio, at the heart of the Brianza area, receives thousands of units which need to be adapted to meet European road standards in readiness for use as regular means of transport. The Desio centre covers an area of over 20,000 square metres and includes various facilities such as warehouses, production units, offices and a railway yard. DITEC has been selected to provide the automation for the entrances to the logistics centre at this complex, which takes delivery of over 12,000 quads every year. These entrances are of considerable size (8 metres x 4.5 in height) and are in constant use, sometimes to provide access to huge transport vehicles. This means that the doors need to be rapid, robust and tireless. The solution chosen was the DITEC Traffic CM rapid fold-up doors – the ideal rapid doors for large size external entrances – in combination with Lisbon sectional doors for night-time security. The Traffic range of motorised doors is powerful and robust. It boasts unrivalled reliability and safety and ensures high operating standards, thanks to the INVERTER and modular counterweighted system with semi-automatic reopening. What's more, despite their large size, their compact design is ideally suited to any industrial or commercial premises. They are designed and manufactured with the "BUILT-IN" system, an integrated unit that contains the motor, the balancing and semi-automatic reopening systems, along with the control and safety devices. As well as enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the structure, it also protects all the components from the weather. The large, transparent surface of the generous modular windows helps make for a lighter and more conducive working environment. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
