Street Design expands in size and grows new ideas

Street Design 2011, the dedicated trade exhibition for the entire urban build design industry is taking place at the NEC Birmingham from 29th – 31st March 2011. This visionary event focuses on the core areas of outdoor street furniture, public lighting and the urban build environment.

Launched with huge success in 2009, Street Design 2011 will once again co-locate with Parkex, Europe's largest dedicated parking exhibition and Traffex, the leading international trade exhibition for traffic management, road safety and highway maintenance professionals, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. The combined events will provide visitors with the opportunity to see over 400 exhibitors from the world of street design, parking and traffic management.

The Street Design exhibition will feature over 100 exhibiting companies, many of whom will be using the show as the launch pad for their latest products and services – giving visitors a valuable insight into future trends. In addition, next year's event will feature a purpose built seminar theatre, giving visitors access to free seminars organised in association with CABE Space, Institution of Lighting Professionals and the Landscape Institute.

The new and exciting feature of next year's Street Design will be 'The Boulevard'. Designed by leading architect Capita Lovejoy, it will be a calm green space featuring 16 mature trees right at the heart of the exhibition floor, aiming to highlight the use of trees in the urban realm and emphasise why trees should be considered as an integral part of development at its earliest stages.

At the heart of the Boulevard is the 'Think Space', an area celebrating the diversity of street life in the UK through ambient music, a variety of photographs and video, showcasing award-winning public realm design.
