Lovell builds sustainable Norfolk homes scheme

Morgan Sindall Group's affordable housing division Lovell has been chosen to deliver a £9 million development of energy-efficient homes at the Barnham Cross Estate, Thetford, Norfolk, for housing association Flagship Peddars Way.

The overall scheme will create 66 houses, flats and bungalows, all for social rent, for the housing association – part of Flagship Housing Group. The scheme is also receiving £3.8 million of funding from the Homes and Communities Agency and £500, 000 from Breckland Council.

The first phase of 22 properties – 16 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom flats – at Sweyn Close / Fulmerston Road will be built to Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. The homes will be 44 per cent more energy-efficient than properties built to current Building Regulations. The second phase of new housing – 44 flats, bungalows and houses – will be built to Level 3 of the Code.

The first phase of housing is expected to be complete in March 2012 and the second phase is due to be finished in March 2013.
