| Energy saving SL 97 folding glass door As a solid, future-oriented investment into sustainable building, Solarlux presented the first wood/aluminium folding glass door with an integrated thermal layer to be launched onto the market. With its out-standing thermal insulation properties, it has been specially designed with the demands of energy saving buildings. Solarlux envisages future appli-cations both in luxurious private homes and multi-storey high-quality rented and owner-occupied flats. By using wood on the interior and a combination of insulating material and protective aluminium on the outside, with the SL 97 Solarlux has been able to combine the advantages of three materials in a single product. Inside the room, the wood panels create a natural and cosy atmosphere and, on the outside, the rear-ventilated aluminium facing sheets guarantee permanent protection from the elements with only minimal maintenance requirements. The regular treatment and care required with wooden windows is thus rendered superfluous. The SL 97 will be available as a top and bottom-running system with stainless steel carriages and runners. It comes with hidden fittings which can be conveniently operated using one hand and a sliding lock for the partially open folding glass door. Three all-round seals protect the system from the wind and rain. FSC or PEFC-certified pines and fir woods are used as standard for the wooden sections; other wood types are also optionally available. For this system Solarlux uses triple glazing with panes ranging between 24 and 46 mm. As such, the SL 97 achieves outstanding thermal insulation which satisfies low-energy house standards as well as, in part, values for the passive house standard. Using a three-part construction measuring 2700 mm in width and 2300 mm in height, a Uw value of 0.8 W/m2K has been achieved. The SL 97 will be available for delivery as of April 2011. In terms of finishes, the aluminium facing sheets will be available with powder coatings as per RAL or with an anodized finish as per EURAS and the wood finishes as per the SL colour chart. http://www.solarlux.co.uk/ write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
