| FCC installs first parking spaces with electric car charging points Spanish construction group FCC inaugurated the first parking spaces with power points for recharging electric cars' lithium-ion batteries at its Madrid offices in calle Federico Salmón. The system enables a vehicle battery to be fully charged in 6-8 hours. The new power points are compatible with all vehicle brands and models. The charging stations are in line with FCC's environmental commitments and they will gradually be extended to the rest of the building's parking spaces and other FCC buildings, in pace with demand. Following the inauguration, the new power points were demonstrated with EPISOL, an electric vehicle powered by a fuel cell and solar energy that was developed by CEMUSA, the FCC subsidiary specialised in urban furniture, in cooperation with research centres INSIA and CSIC; the demonstration also featured Citroën's C-Zero electric vehicle, in line with the MoU signed by FCC and Citroën. Under the MoU, the two companies will conduct preliminary studies and research into electric cars and negotiations regarding a potential supply of electric vehicles for FCC's "e-mobility" initiative in Spain. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Construction News :: home page |
