ISH 2011: innovative solutions for conserving water resources

The responsible use of water is one of the world's most important environmental targets. Today, more than a billion people have no access to clean drinking water and 2.5 billion have no or only inadequate sanitation facilities. At ISH 2011 from 15 to 19 March, sustainability will be one of the focal-point themes when over 2,300 manufacturers, including all market and technology leaders from home and abroad, present their latest products for innovative bathrooms, sustainable sanitation solutions and environmentally friendly building services technology at a fully booked-up Exhibition Centre in Frankfurt am Main. Additionally, the subject of sustainability will be taken up and expanded upon by the 'Blue Responsibility' campaign, part of the extensive ISH complementary programme.

When it comes to sustainable sanitation solutions, the international ISH trade fair is the world's foremost meeting place. This is where visitors can obtain the latest information about using modern technology to conserve water. Leading manufacturers present state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly products for the bathroom, such as water saving and heating technology and easy-care materials, and thus offer answers to the global problem of water shortage.

Further details about this subject will be provided by the 'Blue Responsibility' campaign. In a 100 m² lounge visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about sustainability in a vivid presentation. Themed towers with films will show everything worth knowing about saving water and cover the entire spectrum from guaranteeing the world's water-supply system to the range of products offered by Germany's sanitation and building-services suppliers. Additionally, world water meters will be installed at two locations at the Exhibition Centre during ISH. Using these meters, visitors will be able to compare the size of the world's population with the amount of water they consume.

As part of the campaign, there will be a presentation of the new Water Efficiency Label (WELL), a European classification system for sanitation, kitchen and shower fittings, shower heads and hoses, urinal and toilet flushing systems and accessories, on the first day of the fair, 15 March 2011.

In addition to the lounge, information about sustainable sanitation solutions will be available at the stands of the approx. 25 leading brand-name manufacturers of the German sanitation industry, the participants and sponsors of the campaign. Using selected products, they will illustrate their particular areas of expertise in the field of sanitation solutions.
