Los Angeles World Airports extends project labor agreement

The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners recently accepted the 10-year extension of the current project labor agreement covering construction projects at airports and properties owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).

Parsons Constructors Inc., Pasadena, negotiated the project labor agreement with the National Building Trades Department, International Unions, Building and Construction Trades of California, and the two local Building and Construction Trades Councils and affiliated unions. The agreement also was coordinated with the Carpenters International Union and its Regional Council. All crafts agreed to the extension.

The project labor agreement covers current capital improvement construction work at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX), and projects that are not yet determined at LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys airports, and property at Palmdale.

The extension will go into effect Jan. 1, 2011, and will cover more than $2 billion worth of construction projects at LAX, with future work to be added in Phase 2 and 3 of the airport's long-range Capital Improvement Program.
