| Baker wins ACEC award The American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina (ACEC-NC) honored Michael Baker Engineering, Inc., a unit of Michael Baker Corporation as a 2011 Engineering Excellence Honors award winner for the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA) Development Program, and Program and Construction Management Services for the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority (PTAA). The program consisted of the development of the FedEx Mid-Atlantic Hub site, the construction of Runway 5L-23R, the construction of Taxiway E, the extension of Taxiway K to serve the new FedEx site, relocation of Bryan Boulevard, implementation of ancillary projects, permitting, and environmental mitigation efforts.
