| Ceremonial opening of the Malmo City Tunnel with King Carl Gustav Citizens of the city of Malmö and German construction giant Bilfinger Berger are celebrating the Malmo City Tunnel which will officially be opened by King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden on December 4, 2010. As leader of an international consortium, Bilfinger Berger was responsible for the key section of the rail project, a nearly six-kilometer long dual-tube tunnel. The order has a volume of more than €350 million with half of that total accounted for by Bilfinger Berger. The 17-kilometer long City Tunnel project is the final section of the direct link between Denmark and Sweden over the Oresund Bridge which connects the main train station in Malmö with the Danish capital of Copenhagen. The project will ensure significantly lower travel times and two new train stations will provide improved connections for the entire Oresund region. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
