Lovell awarded social housing regeneration schemes

Morgan Sindall Group's affordable housing division Lovell has been selected by Southampton City Council to deliver three regeneration schemes, together worth over £30 million.

Lovell will work in partnership with social housing provider First Wessex to build more than 200 homes at three mixed tenure sites across the city. The new homes will meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, meaning they will be 44 per cent more energy-efficient than homes built to current building regulations. Work at one site will also involve building seven new retail units to replace an existing shopping parade and relocating a children's play area.

Subject to planning permission, work on all three schemes is expected to begin early next year (2011).
