| Babcock Wanson's boilers in Corsica Babcock Wanson was awarded the contract for the design, manufacture, commissioning and maintenance of two containers for hot water production installed on the fuel depot of Marana, south of Bastia. The site temporarily stores fuels like domestic fuel (FOD) and heavy fuel oil No. 2 (FO2) which are to be supplied to the engines of Lucciana power plant a few hundred yards away. To ensure that the FO2 does not freeze, a warm-up of the pipelines, of the FO2 storage bin and the process exchangers is performed by these two containers of hot water sypply, each equipped with a high efficiency Babcock Wanson boiler ( > 95%) of 2000 kW. Babcock Wanson carried out this project successfully despite some technical constraints: - A highly corrosive marine environment, - A high availability, - A site already in operation which means a very short deadline for works completion. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
