| Stockmann's Nevsky Centre opened in St. Petersburg Finnish company Pöyry has been Stockmann's long-term partner in the design and project management in the Nevsky shopping centre project. Valtter Kari, Business Area President Eastern Europe in Pöyry's Urban and Mobility business group, says that the project completion date was fixed 18 months back and that the multinational project team including for instance a Chinese main contractor did a splendid work by achieving this target. This is the first time in St Petersburg's history when four floors have been constructed downwards from the ground level on a top-down method. Pöyry's project team has consisted of some 40 employees from Finland, Russia and the Baltic countries: architects, project management specialists, site inspectors and other experts. The project design work was started in 2005. Nevsky shopping centre is located in the very heart of St Petersburg, by the main street Nevsky Prospect, in the corner of Vosstaniya Square. One fifth of the 100,000 m2 area is used by Stockmann department store. The premises are also occupied by other retail stores, restaurants, health and beauty clubs as well as an underground multi-storey car park for nearly 600 cars. At the top there are two office floors. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
