| Material Vision presents the latest trends in the field of materials The next Material Vision – Materials for Product Development, Design and Architecture, International Trade Fair and Conference – will be held in Frankfurt am Main from 24 to 26 May 2011. Leading companies from the materials industry have been making presentations at Material Vision every two years since 2003. As a platform for research into new materials, the fair has become an established event for creative target groups, such as product developers, designers and architects. The trade fair and conference are organised by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung). As at the last event in 2009, Material Vision 2011 will be held parallel to Techtextil, International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens. At Techtextil, around 1,200 exhibitors present materials and product innovations for a variety of applications in twelve main segments. Of particular interest to designers and architects are the Buildtech, Hometech, Mobiltech and Sporttech segments. Messe Frankfurt expects to welcome around 60 manufacturers of future-oriented materials to Material Vision 2011 and the spectrum of products shown will range from polymer, metal, ceramic, wood, concrete, stone and mineral materials to composites, materials made of renewable raw materials and nano-materials. The renowned Design Plus competition on the occasion of Material Vision presents outstanding products made using innovative materials. With the Design Plus award, Messe Frankfurt and the German Design Council honour products that combine innovative materials, intelligent functionality and successful design in a special way. In addition to design, the choice of materials and technical quality, the judges are paying increasing attention to ecological quality. The award-winning exhibits will be on show in a special exhibition throughout the fair. In 2009, the jury of renowned experts judged 160 entries from 15 countries. 36 products were singled out for the Design Plus award. Besides the products on show, the complementary programme of Material Vision gives visitors an opportunity to explore products and innovations in depth and to enter into discussions. The Material Vision conference is a forum for the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge where architects, materials developers and designers discuss the latest material trends in the fields of product development and architecture.
