| Fair-related forums at BAU 2011 As well as all the products and services on show at the stands of the exhibitors, BAU 2011 will again be featuring an exclusive programme of supporting events. Continuing the success of this programme in 2009, the motto for 2011 will be "BAU plus!". Visitors will be able to gather information—free of charge—at no less than three high-calibre forums. All the forums are located centrally, right in the midst of the fair. And simultaneous interpretation (German/English) is provided at all the lectures in these forums. The Intelligent Building Forum covers a wide range of themes from the renovation, modernisation and refurbishment of existing buildings through to the construction of modern, high-tech buildings featuring all the latest technology. Over 50 lectures are being organised in this forum programme, given by experts from science and research, industry and the housing sector. The forum is aimed at the entire BAU community, from investors and home-builders to planners, architects and the skilled trades. It focuses on the renovation and modernisation of buildings. Many companies make the most part of their turnover in R&M. And in Europe, around 50% of all building work is in this field. And things look set for this to increase still further. The second part of the forum, held under the heading of 'Zukunft Bau' (The Future of Building) looks at research initiatives and grants. Germany's Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development will be presenting corresponding projects. The Fraunhofer Building Innovation Alliance, consisting of 16 institutes, will also be presenting its research work, illustrated with specific projects. The focus here will be on energy- and resource-efficiency and sustainability. The MacroArchitecture Forum turns the spotlight on the role of architects now and in the future. In the mornings architects and company representatives will present joint projects. The motto behind the forum is 'Architects and Industry in Dialogue'. BAU is putting on part of this forum in cooperation with the architectural journal AIT, the interior designers´ association Bund Deutscher Innenarchitekten, timber-construction company Egger and chemical building products producer Mapei. In the afternoons the results of interdisciplinary basic research will be revealed. The aim will be to see what consequences mega-trends such as sustainability and digitalisation will have in the future on architecture, products and processes. And here, the motto is 'Future research in architecture'. The trend boards are the result of a cooperation with the architectural journal DETAIL. Partners in this project, too, are the timber-construction company Egger and chemical building products producer Mapei. In the Future of Building Forum well known architects, planners and construction engineers from all over the world will be presenting recent projects and setting out a vision for the future of building and architectural design. Each day there will be a different range of themes, all impacting on building in the future: CO2-neutral – Living and working in the future (Monday); Major city - model for the future (Tuesday); Building 2.0 – green and certified (Wednesday); Universal architecture – universal design (Thursday); House to the power of n – parameterised planning and building (Friday); Emerging stars (Saturday). The high-calibre forum 'The Future of Building' is a real highlight at BAU. It is being organised in cooperation with publishers Bauverlag, The Federal Chamber of German Architects and supported by a range of industrial partners (BetonMarketing Deutschland, Deutsche Steinzeug, Saint-Gobain). BAU 2011, the World's Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials, Systems, takes place from 17 to 22 January 2011 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
