| SAIE introduces new features  2010 is a turning point for SAIE (Bologna, 27-30 October), with a new format, new contents, and new ideas that the 46th edition of the International Building Exhibition offers to professionals in the building industry. There are many new features united under the slogan "Integrating to build."SAIE 2010's mission is to contribute to full and effective integration of knowledge, skills, and technologies in order to drive the building industry toward the qualitative leap that professionals are so eagerly awaiting. This mission can be achieved only by focusing on two strategic factors for the future: "research and innovation" and "young talents, " and this is exactly what SAIE has done, enhancing and increasing the initiatives devoted to innovation and giving a means of expression to tomorrow's professionals. The exhibit Showcase of the future, which documents the evolution of the industry through the product innovation presented at SAIE from 2004 to 2010, and the SAIESELECTION competition, devoted this year to Integrating to build – Highly integrated innovative and sustainable buildings, with over 200 participants from all over the world (36 nations represented) fit perfectly in this logic. SAIE 2010 has three main theme areas: sustainability, production, and services. Three complementary aspects, integrated into a single activity that defines this edition's macro areas: • SAIENERGIA&SUSTAINABILITY • SAIESERVIZI FOR DESIGNING, BUILDING, AND MAINTENANCE • SAIECANTIERE&PRODUCTION After the successful 2008 and 2009 editions, SAIENERGIA has grown and become SAIENERGIA & SUSTAINABILITY, combining the spaces devoted to renewable energies with those for materials, systems and components for safe and sustainable building. As always, Hall 14 hosts the Energy Plaza, the fulcrum of conferences, workshops, exhibits, meetings, and debates, coordinated by Mario Cucinella. This year, the Energy Plaza also hosts other theme plazas devoted to the many aspects of energy–sustainable building. The theme area SAIENERGIA&SUSTAINABILITY presents the following plazas: • SAIEnergia – devoted to renewable energy sources and low-energy technologies for sustainable building. • LaterSAIE – devoted to brick producers and offering a global view of the sector and its goods and technologies. • SAIELegno – devoted to structures and components in wood. • SAIECet – devoted to Automatic and Security Doors and Gates, a few feature of this edition, sponsored by UCCT (Unione Costruttori Chiusure Tecniche). This year, SAIECet presents the First Report on the Italian Market for Automatic and Security Doors and Gates, prepared by CRESME for UCT and SAIE, offering an estimate of market potential, the value of the sector for the Italian economy, and economic trends and forecasts by analysing building production, investments (broken down by sector) and supply. • SAIE New Stone Age Design – a cooperative effort of SAIE, Confindustria Marmomacchine and Consorzio Pietra Autentica, this theme area presents the exhibit Green & Stone: a new vision for urban design to illustrate how stone integrates with green to provide new forms of urban design. Studio Lucchese Design is the curator of the exhibit and designer of the natural stone products at Saie New Stone Age Design. SAIE has always paid great attention to makers of site equipment, and now presents SAIECANTIERE, the exhibit devoted to on-site and off-site production, expanded with a series of events, initiatives, and exhibition spaces for the finest possible presentation of Italian and international products. FORMOTER, connected to the SAIECENTIERE & PRODUCTION area and devoted to earth-moving equipment operators, is organized by SAIE in cooperation with Unacea. Training courses, organized in cooperation with IIPLE, offer theory as well as practice on machines provided by leading companies such as Komatsu, New Holland Construction, and Ihimer. With 20,000 m2 devoted to technical services for building and architecture, SAIESERVIZI is Europe's largest theme show for technical software and hardware and for instruments used for designing, building, and maintenance. It is the ideal place to find and exchange the latest information, and offers a series of spaces where operators can meet and network.
