Philips breakthrough LED replacement lamp

As legislation continues to accelerate the phase-out of incandescent lamps in many parts of the world, Philips' new high quality LED replacement solution for traditional 60-watt bulbs has won prestigious recognition from the American Lighting Association (ALA), the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), and the US Department of Energy (DOE). The dimmable 12 watt LED bulb – marketed in the United States as the EnduraLED lamp – has been selected as the best LED replacement lamp of 2010 in the Lighting for Tomorrow competition. The expert judging panel chose the lamp for its design and performance, recognizing its industry-benchmark 806 lumens of comfortable, warm white light.

For both homes and businesses such as hotels, replacing high concentrations of 60-watt lamps with the new Philips offering could save up to 80% of the energy used by other conventional light sources. The lamp can save up to US$125 or Eur 90 over the course of each lamp's lifetime, which is rated at 25,000 hours of usage. It is also the longest lasting lamp on the market, helping to minimize maintenance costs as well.

The award-winning 12-watt LED lamp is available now in professional and consumer channels in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and will be introduced in North American markets in December.
