Hochtief subsidiaries win contracts in USA, Germany and Poland

Hochtief subsidiaries in the USA, Germany and Poland have secured contracts worth 366 million euros. Flatiron and Turner Construction will partner with other companies to plan and build the Oakland Airport Connector in California - a railway line for passenger transport to Oakland International Airport. The contract is worth a total of 262 million euros (361 million US dollars). In overall charge, Flatiron will receive a share of 184 million euros (253 million US dollars). Turner Construction will act as the subcontractor of the joint venture.

Turner Construction has also begun construction work on Penn Park, the sports center of the University of Pennsylvania/Philadelphia, in a project worth 22 million euros (30 million US dollars). In addition, it will manage the construction of the Transbay Transit Center, a railway station in San Francisco, for more than 28 million euros (39 million US dollars). From March 1, 2011, Hochtief Facility Management will handle the complete facility management for the Munich Re insurance company in Munich for a period of eight years. The contract is worth over 100 million euros.

Furthermore, Hochtief Polska has signed a contract for the construction of a faculty building for the University of Cracow for around 32 million euros (126.9 million Polish zlotys).

The Oakland Airport Connector will be designed as an elevated railway line and will connect the airport with the city center over a stretch of five kilometers. Operations are due to start in 2014. It is estimated that as many as 10,000 daily passengers will use the Connector by 2020. For the University of Pennsylvania and the city of Philadelphia, Penn Park will provide a new local recreation center. By the fall of 2011, various sports fields will be created on almost 25 acres of ground in a project worth more than 22 million euros (30 million US dollars).

In the Transbay City Center undertaking, Turner Construction will manage the construction of the new "Grand Central Station of the West". The new station will connect eleven transportation systems and five administrative districts. From 2017, it will handle 45 million passengers a year. Hochtief Facility Management will set up an operating company with a partner under the name of FM Go! GmbH. It will hold 74.9 percent of the shares in this company. FM Go! will employ over 90 staff and handle the complete technical and infrastructural facility management for 21 properties of the insurance company in the Munich conurbation. The new facilities of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science in Cracow will cover an area of 26,000 square meters and are scheduled for completion in spring 2014.
