| More than 60,000 trade visitors at GaLaBau 2010 The 4-day GaLaBau exhibition with its PLAYGROUND and Deutsche Golfplatztage (German Golf Course Days) segments finished in Nürnberg on Saturday, 18 September 2010, with exactly 60,127 trade visitors. 1,076 exhibitors, including 17 per cent international companies, presented the complete range of products and services for green design, construction and maintenance.The figures for exhibitors and visitors were checked and certified by the Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics (FKM), Berlin. Erstmals wurde im Vorfeld der GaLaBau der Wettbewerb "Grüne Spielplätze" ausgeschrieben. Die glücklichen Gewinner, die Landschaftsarchitekten Helmut Mühlbacher und Jürgen Hilse, nahmen für das Siegerkonzept "Spielplatz Sonnenschein in Freilassing" das Preisgeld in Höhe von 10.000, - EUR in Empfang. Weitere fünf Spielplätze erhielten jeweils symbolisch eine Vogelkirsche, den Baum des Jahres 2010.The "Green Playgrounds" competition was organized for the first time in the run-up to GaLaBau. The lucky winners, landscape architects Helmut Mühlbacher and Jürgen Hilse, were presented with the prize money of 10, 000EUR for their winning concept, the "Sonnenschein Playground in Freilassing". Another five playgrounds each received a symbolic prize in the form of a bird cherry, the Tree of the Year 2010. The winners of the Landscape Gardener Cup 2010 received their award in hall 2. The "German Champion Team", Christopher Bäuerle (apprentice at Jürgen Wragge GmbH Garten- und Landschaftsbau in Backnang) and Jonas Rombach (apprentice at Willi Glöckler Garten- und Landschaftsbau in Kirchzarten) from the Baden-Württemberg association, Verband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau Baden-Württemberg e.V., qualified as winning team for the "WorldSkills 2011" championship in London. BGL presented the "GaLaBau Innovation Medal 2010" to altogether twelve important technical innovations (from 125 entries). This award is presented in recognition of successful developments and progressive solutions to problems with products or processes for the construction and maintenance of landscaped areas. The European Landscape Contractors Association (ELCA) presented two International Awards for Ecological Construction & Landscaping again this year. The owners, landscape architects and landscape gardeners involved in two outstanding historic gardens in the Czech Republic were honoured for their successful cooperation. The following received the award for their close cooperation in the reconstruction of the historic abbey gardens in Litomyšl: the city of Litomyšl as owner, the architects/landscape architects Radko Kvêt, Zdenek Sendler and Václav Babka, and the landscape gardening contractors Profistav Litomyšl and Jan Vavřín ARS Litomyšl. The award also went to the following for their successful cooperation in the very attractive reconstruction of the garden of Villa Müller in Prague:the city of Prague as developer/owner, the architects/landscape architects Ing. Arch. Doz. Václav Girsa, Girsa AT s.r.o., and Ing.
