| Stone+tec opens door for new ideas Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011, the International Trade Fair Natural Stone and Stoneprocessing Technology in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 22–25 June 2011, is perfectly positioned for the upturn in the building and restoration market. Besides the whole variety of natural stone, the focus on technology is traditionally one of the most important aspects of Stone+tec. The exhibition in 2011 also stands out for presenting the best applications, both in terms of the spectrum of products and services from the exhibiting companies and the additional information offered by the supporting programme. The Peter Parler Award in 2011 will again impressively demonstrate the achievements of the stonemasonry trade in the preservation of the cultural heritage. The award is presented for exemplary high-quality work by stonemasons on listed buildings or objects of natural stone under the aspects of conservation, craft restoration, creativity and material feeling. The German Natural Stone Award, one of the most noted architecture prizes in Germany, will be organized on a European-wide basis in 2011. The reason for this is a change in perception in order to extend the award worth 30,000EUR to cover outstanding European-wide designs of buildings, squares and open spaces that focus on the exemplary innovative design and structural use of natural stone. The Baumeister Architecture Quartet is an established format in which an architect, an architecture critic, a prominent layman interested in architecture, and Wolfgang Bachmann, Chief Editor of the architecture magazine Baumeister, discuss key issues of contemporary architecture. Sustainability in architecture is always a key topic here – especially at a get-together closely connected with architecture. Sustainability in architecture will be tackled again at the Student Day. This event is based on the study published by the Deutscher Naturwerkstein-Verband on the "Life Cycle Assessment of Natural Stone" and the facade design of the 170-m high OpernTurm skyscraper of architect Christoph Mäckler in Frankfurt am Main. An Award for Innovative and High-Quality Products will be presented at Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011 for the first time. The award is for products using natural stone and ceramic, which also incorporate new applications. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
