| Vinci opens Germany’s first concession motorway Vinci, the leading French construction company, announced the opening to traffic of the A4 "A-Modell" motorway section in Thuringia, one year ahead of schedule. This is Germany's first motorway concession, carried out under a 30-year public-private partnership. It covers one of the biggest motorway corridors crossing Germany from west to east. The contract was one of four pilot concession projects, known as "A-Modell", launched by the German government in 2005. It was awarded in October 2007 to the Via Solutions Thüringen consortium, in which Vinci Concessions has a 50% interest. The contract comprises operating a 45 km section between the Gotha interchange and the border between Thuringia and Hesse, and includes widening 24.5 km from four to six lanes. The project combines Vinci Concessions' expertise in designing, financing and managing transport infrastructure with Eurovia's expertise in road building in Germany. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
