| Form-A-Drain receives rigorous CCMC evaluation report CertainTeed has received an evaluation report for its Form-A-Drain Foundation Drainage System from the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC). The CCMC report approves the patented concrete footing form system for use as a foundations product in compliance with the National Building Code of Canada and the National Research Council Canada. The report, number 13492-R, provides impartial and technical comment on pioneering products and broadens the resources available to Canadian building professionals tasked with creating environmentally sound and sustainable buildings. "The CCMC approval for Form-A-Drain provides building professionals with a superior groundwater drainage system, ideal for the wet Canadian climates," says Keith Reifke, national sales manager for CertainTeed's Foundations Business. "In addition, Form-A-Drain is engineered to stay in place after construction, which is a tremendous advantage for contractors, as less labor is required. We are excited to offer this cost-effective product, which will allow building professionals to remove the labor costs of stripping and cleaning standard concrete forms while providing efficient installation." Form-A-Drain is a three-in-one concrete footing form system, foundation drainage system and sub-slab perimeter radon reduction system. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) lineal sections are used in place of wood or aluminum to form the footing and remain in place after the concrete is poured. This saves time and money, as there is no need to return to the jobsite to strip, clean and transport footing forms for reuse. After installation, Form-A-Drain collects groundwater through multiple side vents and transports it to a sump pit or a drainage pipe to divert water out of the home. Harmful radon gas is also collected and safely evacuated through a separate vent pipe. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
