Bilfinger Berger wins orders in the energy industry

German construction giant Bilfinger Berger has won two major energy sector orders with a volume of approximately €60 million. In Poland, service contracts at five thermal power stations have been extended while in Austria the Company will provide highly specialized services for a hydroelectric power plant. The scope of services in these projects highlights the broad range of services Bilfinger Berger offers.

Energy Group Vattenfall has extended service agreements for the preventative maintenance, repair and inspection of five coal-fired thermal power stations in the Warsaw area. Bilfinger Berger has been providing services there since 2002, especially in the areas of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and measuring, monitoring and control technology. The new contracts cover a period of four years.

Bilfinger Berger is also constructing the pressure tunnel plating as well as other piping system components for Verbund Austrian Hydro Power at the Reißeck II pumped-storage hydro power plant. The steel pressure shaft with a diameter of 3.6 meters channels water from the reservoir into the new 430-megawatt power plant approximately 560 meters below.

Bilfinger Berger is the only provider in Europe that can independently manufacture and assemble pressure pipes. Just recently, the Company renewed the pressure tunnel plating at the Swiss hydroelectric power plant Cleuson-Dixence.
