| Transport development for Birmingham reach financial close UK-based engineering firm Mott MacDonald said its role as Technical Advisor for Birmingham City Council on the largest ever UK local authority Private Finance Initiative (PFI) reached financial close on 6 May 2010. The £2.7 billion project for the management and maintenance of the City of Birmingham's complete highway network will cover 2,500 miles of highway. Mott MacDonald provided technical advice for the procurement of a 25-year contract for the rehabilitation, management and maintenance and operation of the highway network and associated infrastructure within the City of Birmingham.
