| Mott MacDonald is appointed on Russian shopping centre UK-based engineering giant Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Megamag LLC as design engineer for the second phase of a £30 million retail centre development in Russia. The project is a 45,000 m² extension of an existing shopping outlet located on the south side of Rostov-on-Don city in southern Russia. Rostov-on-Don city, with a population of 1.3 million people, is the administrative center of Rostov Oblast and the Southern Federal District of Russia. Located on the Don River, just 46 km from the Sea of Azov, the city has experienced considerable economic growth in recent years and is now being transformed into a modern, industrial and technology-rich hub. The project is in three phases. Mott MacDonald's team of professionals will undertake the structural, electrical and mechanical design for phase two of the 36,000m² development which will include a fashion mall, a food court, restaurants and entertainment facilities. This is intended to be a family oriented shopping and entertainment centre of exceptional quality on a prime site overlooked by the city centre. Mott MacDonald's involvement will run from conception through to commencement of construction.
