| Strabag building rest stop on A13 Brenner motorway Strabag AG, Austria's largest construction company, has been awarded by Austrian motorway operator ASFINAG the contract to plan and build the Brenner rest stop on the A13 Brenner Motorway including all necessary exterior facilities. Strabag will operate the rest stop jointly with partners OMV and Rosenberger for a period of 30 years under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The total investment volume for the project amounts to around € 11.0 million. The A13 Brenner Motorway – with an annual traffic volume of around 1.9 million trucks of all toll categories as well as buses and about 14 million vehicles – is one of the most important north-south connections through Austria. The growth of international cross-border traffic also means that there must be sufficient opportunities for drivers to take rest breaks. This project is already the fourth rest stop in Austria built and operated by Strabag AG under a PPP model. In addition to the Wörthersee rest stop (in operation since 2004) and the Schwechat rest stop (in operation since 2008), the Potzneusiedl rest stop on the A6 was opened in October 2009. The groundbreaking ceremony of the rest stop A13 Brenner motorway will take place on 3 August 2010 at 2 p.m. at the construction site. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
