| Turner to transform Madison Square Garden Turner, one of the largest construction management companies in the United States, will transform a New York icon: Madison Square Garden. Originally built by Turner in 1968, Madison Square Garden is to be transformed to meet the requirements of a state-of-the-art arena. The US company will provide construction management services for this major contract. The company has agreed not to disclose the value of the contract. The famous multifunction arena and home of the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers will be highlighted by a brand new entrance and wider concourses with views of the city. There will be new food and entertainment amenities for the more than four million people who visit the Garden every year. Sightlines inside the arena will be improved and more comfortable seating fitted. The 58 lower-level suites are to be made 50 percent larger and 50 percent closer to events. Furthermore, there are plans for 20 event-level suites on the same floor as the playing surface. In addition, two bridges, 61 meters in length will be constructed: These are to join the east and west ends of the arena and allow fans a unique viewing experience from 21 meters up. A new scoreboard will be installed with state-of-the-art lighting, sound and LED video systems.
