| Faithful+Gould secures EDF Nuclear New Build contract Faithful+Gould, part of the Atkins engineering design group, has been awarded a professional services consultancy agreement by EDF Energy to support its UK Nuclear New Build Project. The initial three year contract, worth in the region of £3 million, will see Faithful+Gould providing quantity surveyor and contract management support during the project's procurement. Faithful+Gould, along with parent company Atkins, is involved in other areas of the evolving new nuclear sector including being part of the Engage consortium, which has recently signed a €150 million contract as the architect engineer on the ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) project in the South of France. This is an international effort to build the world's first commercial scale nuclear fusion reactor and is regarded as one of the greatest research projects ever conducted. The ambition is to replicate the way the sun works, which could deliver limitless energy. As part of Engage, Faithful+Gould is supporting the design and construction of around 30 buildings that will make up the complex. The company will deliver contract and commercial management services, drawing on its international knowledge and expertise to bring added value to the project. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
