| Sir Robert McAlpine to revolutionise cooling technology Testing of the Sir Robert McAlpine Integrated Solutions (SRMIS) patented Reactive Cooling Technology confirms the air cooled cabinet system offers phenomenal commercial and environmental benefits compared with traditional chilled water solutions. The design is based on establishing micro climate control at server level and ensuring that heat produced is controlled and contained within a hermetically sealed cabinet from which it is extracted directly. Recent test results show the system provides an 83% saving on cooling load (equivalent to a 45% saving on total power usage), while other benefits include increased resilience and the ability to attain 100% design load without additional risk. According to the Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA), the technology could also eliminate many of the problems associated with traditional chilled water systems. The result is a system with the potential to deliver commercial benefits in excess of £4 million a year per 10, 000ft2 data hall and a saving of upwards of 8, 750 tonnes of CO2 for no additional capital cost. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
