Pöyry awarded railway line upgrade project in Austria

Finland's Pöyry has been awarded a contract by the Austrian Federal Railways Company "ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG" to perform the site supervision services for the railway line upgrade project "Lambach-Breitenschützing". The value of Pöyry's services is about EUR 1.3 million.

In the course of the project, approx. 4 km of the existing double-tracked railway line between Vienna and Salzburg will be replaced with a newly constructed high performance line.

The project comprises the diversion of the Spöckbach river as well as new rail and road infrastructure construction and renovation. This will include several bridges and underpasses as well as new construction of Neukirchen station. Partly retreating of the existing western railway track and accompanying ecological measures are also part of the works.

The works will start in August 2010 and shall be completed in October 2013.
