| Kone joins the World Business Council for Sustainable Development Kone, one of the leading companies in the elevator and escalator industry, has joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). WBCSD is a CEO-led, global association of some 200 companies dealing exclusively with business and sustainable development. Membership will give Kone the chance to collaborate and participate in a global network on topics of sustainability such as energy efficiency in buildings and urban infrastructure. Kone contributes to sustainable development by helping to reduce the energy consumption of buildings with innovative, eco-efficient, safe and easy to access People Flow solutions. "Buildings consume 40 percent of the world's energy. Elevators and escalators typically account for 5 percent of this consumption. Our membership in the WBCSD provides KONE with an excellent platform to exchange ideas about new eco-efficient solutions to reduce the energy consumption of buildings. This offers us more opportunities to contribute to sustainable urban development, " comments Kone President & CEO Matti Alahuhta. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
