| Atkins energy contract win in Poland Atkins, the UK's largest engineering design consultancy, has been awarded a £7.7m contract to oversee the design and construction of a new £500m liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant by Polskie LNG in Swinoujscie, Poland. The facility is the first such installation in central Europe. Atkins has been selected to carry out the role of Investor's Supervisor for the 4.5 year project, which will see a team of 40 staff reviewing design, supervising construction and bringing the complex into operational use. The LNG terminal, due to open in 2014, will receive natural gas by sea from virtually any direction in the world, which will increase Poland's energy security. Natural gas is also regarded as the cleanest burning fossil fuel and its use will make a contribution towards reducing the country's state-wide carbon footprint. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
