Translucient motorized acrylic blinds

Snickarboden in cooperation with designer trio Claesson-Koivisto-Rune introduced a new product - translucient motorized acrylic blinds. The new product, a range of acrylic blinds with a graphic print was first shown at the Helsinki Design Week and now at Stockholm furniture fair. The designers Claesson-Koivisto-Rune where intrigued by the possibilities of a acrylic blind that filters light in daytime and illuminates the building in nighttime. Snickarboden has a unique productionmethod that prohibits static buildup over time which is a wellknown problem for all acrylic products. When dusting ordinary acrylic surfaces it actually worsens the buildup of static voltage which attracts even more dust. The voltage is often measured in thousands of volts but not so with the acrylic blinds of Snickarboden.

Laborathory tests show levels between 3-10 Kvolt on untreated acryl surfaces but only 0,04 kvolt on the acrylic blinds of Snickarboden. This means that the multicolour translucient blinds will stay crystal clear without any extraordinary cleaning and when dusted there is no static buildup. Snickarboden uses Somfy products for motorization. Remotely controlled or automated motorized acrylic blinds adds motion to the five surfaces of colour play: The colour of the blinds, reflection on the blinds, the colour of the interior, the patterns of reflection on floors and walls and the night time effect of the façad when illuminating the blinds from within.
