WorleyParsons wins contract for Kashagan project in Kazakhstan

Australia-based WorleyParsons, in a joint venture with CB&I and Aker Solutions, has been awarded an updated front-end engineering and design (FEED) services contract from Shell Development Kashagan B.V (SDK) for Phase II of the full-field development of the Kashagan oil field in Kazakhstan.

The updated contract, with expected revenue of GB£170 million, replaces an earlier contract awarded by Agip KCO which was announced on 16 January 2009.

Under the new operating model agreed with the Kazakhstan Government, North Caspian Operating Company B.V. (NCOC) was delegated as Operator under the North Caspian Sea Production Sharing Agreement, taking over the role formally held by Agip KCO. SDK, an NCOC designated agent company, is undertaking a unified onshore and offshore FEED for the development of Phase II of the Kashagan project.

Work on the project began in November 2008 and is expected to be completed in 2011.
