Strabag awarded power plant project in Switzerland

Strabag, Central and Eastern Europe's largest construction company, was chosen as building contractor for the modernisation of the Kaiserstuhl power plant in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. The order is worth a total of CHF 25 million (approx. € 17.5 million).

The Elektrizitätswerk Obwalden electric power company is planning to renew the works water system for hydropower utilisation at its Kaiserstuhl power plant. The inflowing water is to be used for power production via a new turbine in the existing Unteraa central power station.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2010 and is to be completed in December 2012. Strabag's share is 100 %. In the interest of Obwalden's local economy, STRABAG would like to increase the value-creation in the canton of Obwalden by including local companies in the realisation of the contract awarded to Strabag.
