Bilfinger Berger to expand Hungary’s motorway network

German construction and development firm Bilfinger Berger has completed construction of the 65-kilometer long middle section of the M6 motorway in Hungary in the record time of just 18 months.

The new section of the motorway has an investment volume of about €500 million. Bilfinger Berger holds a share of 45 percent in the project company. In addition, Austrian contractor Porr holds 45 percent and French motorway operator Egis has a 10 percent stake. Bilfinger Berger's equity commitments amount to €23 million. During the 28-year operating phase, the project company ensures the availability of the new motorway in return for contractually-fixed payments from the Hungarian state.
