| Manitowoc 16000 is exactly what wind customers wanted  Bigge Crane & Rigging has taken delivery of Manitowoc's first 16000 Crawler Crane outfitted with the heavy boom created specifically for wind turbine erection. The 16000 also incorporates a new innovative wind jib that adds an impressive 44 percent lift capacity at radius. Manitowoc first released the 16000 in 2005, and it has frequently been deployed by wind contractors. Now, Manitowoc has designed a new heavy boom configuration and exclusive new wind jib for the 16000, increasing the lift capacity to more effectively handle the larger turbines.Bigge, a crane rental company, has taken delivery of the first 16000 equipped with 292 ft heavy boom and new 23' wind jib. With the heavy-boom attachment, the 16000 is now unparalleled when erecting 2.5 MW turbines on 80m & 85m towers.
