| Manitowoc 16000 is exactly what wind customers wanted Bigge Crane & Rigging has taken delivery of Manitowoc's first 16000 Crawler Crane outfitted with the heavy boom created specifically for wind turbine erection. The 16000 also incorporates a new innovative wind jib that adds an impressive 44 percent lift capacity at radius. Manitowoc first released the 16000 in 2005, and it has frequently been deployed by wind contractors. Now, Manitowoc has designed a new heavy boom configuration and exclusive new wind jib for the 16000, increasing the lift capacity to more effectively handle the larger turbines. Bigge, a crane rental company, has taken delivery of the first 16000 equipped with 292 ft heavy boom and new 23' wind jib. With the heavy-boom attachment, the 16000 is now unparalleled when erecting 2.5 MW turbines on 80m & 85m towers. Joe Nelms, V.P. of Sales and Marketing for Bigge states, "Purchasing the 16000's was an easy decision to make. It's exactly what our wind customers wanted and the cranes are a perfect fit for our QPS (quality, price and service) strategy. Combined with Manitowoc's superior product and commitment to service, these cranes will be able to remain in the field for years to come, moving from one wind farm to the next". write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
