| Shaw awarded contract by Exelon Corporation The Shaw Group Inc. announced it has been awarded a three-year contract with Exelon Corp to provide maintenance services to the Handley and Mountain Creek natural gas/oil power generating stations in Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas. The fossil maintenance contract is in addition to Shaw's contract with Exelon to provide fleetwide nuclear power maintenance and modification services. Shaw is one of the largest maintenance providers to the power and process industries in the U.S., offering full-service plant engineering, reliability, turnaround and outage services with capital construction management and modification support. Under the new contract, Shaw will provide routine maintenance/modifications and facilities services to six fossil fuel units. Shaw began providing nuclear maintenance service to Exelon in 2001 as part of a joint venture, which transitioned into a single contract with Shaw in 2007. During its nine-year relationship, Shaw has assisted Exelon in achieving industry refueling outage records, including: * Shortest boiling water reactor refueling outage * Shortest pressurized water reactor refueling outage * Longest operating period between refuelings The undisclosed value of the contract was included in Shaw's Maintenance segment's backlog of unfilled orders in the second quarter of fiscal year 2010. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
