Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet

CertainTeed Corporation is adding a new heavy-duty base sheet for modified bitumen roofing systems that boasts superior performance in an easy-to-install, time-saving design. Featuring a durable, self-adhering sheet with a sanded top surface, the new Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet is ideal for use in two-ply, 20-year commercial roofing systems. Suitable for use in new construction or re-roofing over a variety of substrates, the Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet offers the high-tack characteristics and pliability that contribute to a smoother, more uniform application without the need for adhesives or hot asphalt. The 3mm thick sheet provides additional strength to the roofing system and ensures a long roof life. With coverage of 100 square feet, the sheet is 73 pounds per roll and meets ASTM D1970 and ASTM D6163, Grade S, Type 1.

"The Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet allows for flexible handling and quick installation, saving time and money," says Barb McDonough, commercial marketing manager for CertainTeed Roofing. "It is a perfect addition to CertainTeed's existing commercial product line that has been built on a tradition of enduring quality and backed by the strongest warranty in the industry."

The Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet is flexible and is designed to meet a wide variety of performance requirements. When used as a first ply over a non-nailable or an insulated substrate, the base sheet provides excellent moisture resistance. The base sheet can also serve as a vapor retarder when installed under roof insulation. Mopped, torched or cold-adhered polyester-reinforced, granulated cap sheets from CertainTeed can be used to complete the system.

In addition to the Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA Base Sheet, CertainTeed offers the Black Diamond Base Sheet, which can be used in two-ply systems and is backed by a 12-year warranty.
