| Carillion appointed as contractor for Managed Motorways framework Leading UK support services company Carillion has been appointed as one of four framework contractors to deliver the first phase of the Highways Agency's pioneering Managed Motorways programme, which has a value of up to £2bn. Managed Motorway schemes involve the installation of variable speed limits and hard shoulder running to reduce congestion and improve safety during peak periods. Carillion's selection for this new programme reflects the Group's ability to utilise both its support services and construction capabilities to deliver Managed Motorway projects successfully, having been awarded in 2008 the contract for Phases 1 and 2 of the £96million Birmingham Box Managed Motorways project, which is due for completion in Spring 2011. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
