| Offices with élan on a stable basis The structural work for the Filadelfie building complex in Prague with its interesting ground plan is very close to completion. With the help of the PERI formwork solution, the 17-floor multi-storey building – constructed in the form of a four-blade propeller – will shortly be finished. The MULTIFLEX slab formwork system, in particular, showed itself to be extremely flexible and adaptable for forming the curved upper and massive basement slabs. The upper floors provide 30,000 m˛ of office space with an additional 5,000 m˛ for retail businesses and eateries available on the ground floor. 1,000 parking spaces as well as storage and technical facility rooms are located on six large-sized basement levels. Especially in the design of the standard floors with their curved ground plans does the modern architecture of the complex – built using a skeleton construction – becomes clear. With a comprehensive formwork and scaffolding solution, PERI Czech engineers have accelerated construction progress. Their concept is based on flexible and adaptable systems, precisely tailored to meet all structural, economic and logistic requirements. For the construction of the walls, the TRIO panel formwork system and VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork are being used: in single-sided forming operations in connection with SB brace frames, for the core formwork supplemented with TRIO shaft panels. As a result, the complete internal formwork can be moved quickly and without any time-consuming dismantling to the following concreting section. For the square-shaped reinforced concrete columns with 20 to 50 cm edge lengths featured in the ground plan, the contractor is using RAPID and QUATTRO, the two PERI column formwork systems. Whilst using RAPID to achieve perfect concrete surfaces for meeting the highest architectural concrete requirements is the major consideration, with QUATTRO it is primarily the time savings made which are in the foreground. Then, the formwork is moved after striking with the crane as a complete unit and is thus quickly set up for the next use. The 20 to 30 cm thick standard floors have been formed with PERI MULTIFLEX. The girder slab formwork can be optimally adapted to the building layout and the respective slab thickness. For this construction project, two formwork girders have been ideally combined: the PERI GT 24 lattice girder as stable, load-bearing main beam and the VT 20 solid web girder as an inexpensive secondary beam. A transition slab has been integrated within the base levels. This serves to distribute the different structure loads evenly over a larger surface – this prevents settlement differences. As a result, underneath the standard ground plan the slab thickness is a massive 1.50 m. In the laterally-arranged open floors, a 60 cm thick section is in place to ensure additional load distribution. The range of difficult boundary conditions – high loads, numerous crosswise and longitudinally positioned beams as well as the curved form of the ground plan – have been cost-effectively overcome on the construction site with MULTIFLEX girder slab formwork. Here, in particular, not only can a flexible and versatile but also a material and time-saving slab formwork solution be achieved on the basis of the PERI GT 24 lattice girder. For forming the 1.50 m thick slab with over 40 kN/m˛ load, a GT 24 double main beam has been used as the longitudinal girder support, with the GT 24 as a single main beam sufficient for the 60 cm slab thickness. With same weight, the GT 24 demonstrates a clearly higher load-bearing capacity and thus allows larger spans. In addition, the permissible support reaction of 28 kN reduces the required amount of slab support and thus the number of parts which have to be moved. The BB Centrum has been a popular destination for company administration departments, businesses and service providers re-locating to the Czech capital for many years now – and has thus created many new, modern workplaces. Currently, a new building complex with the pleasant-sounding name of "Filadelfie" is being developed. Each of the 17 storeys has 1,760 m˛ floor space with, in part, a panoramic view of the Prague city centre and the Hradschin with its famous castle. The surrounding area with cafés and a large park also provides a pleasant working environment. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
