Ferrovial will construct a new dual carriageway in Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Roads Service has awarded Spanish giant Ferrovial Agroman, as part of a consortium with Northern Irish firm Lagan and British builder Costain, the design and construction of a 14km stretch of the A8 dual carriageway, which will run between the towns of Coleman and Ballyrickard in the form of an Early Contractor Involvement. The new road, comprising two lanes in each direction, is strategic for Northern Ireland, linking the Port of Larne to Belfast and the rest of the arterial network of the island.

The project will cost 113 million pounds (c.130 million euro) and consists of two phases. The first will be advising the Roads Service in methodology regarding the design, construction, land acquisition, affected services, environmental impact, planning and budgeting of the project, while the second phase will involve the design and construction of this particular section.
