| Berger сompletes award-winning Port of Belford The Louis Berger Group (LBG) recently completed the Port of Belford Economic Feasibility Study and Conceptual Development Plan. The Port of Belford, located in Middletown Township, NJ, is one of the oldest operating fishing ports on the East Coast of the United States, having existed since colonial times. In an effort to revitalize the port and support the area's existing commercial fishing industry, LBG was commissioned by Middletown Township to examine the economic and physical viability of further commercial development at the port. Berger assisted various stakeholders to create a development plan that includes expanding the existing live fish operation, constructing a marine science research center and an interactive/discovery center to preserve the port's maritime heritage, developing parks, preserving open spaces, rehabilitating the 23,000-square-foot Bayshore Inn and constructing food concessions. Shortly after the completion of LBG's assignment in 2009, Middletown Township was awarded a New Jersey Planning Officials Achievement in Planning Award. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Construction News :: home page |
