Hines' 101 Second Street receives LEED Gold certification

The San Francisco office of Hines, the international real estate firm, announced that 101 Second Street has received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council under the Existing Buildings (EB) Rating System.

101 Second Street is a 25-story, 387,866-square-foot office building located in the Mission Street Corridor of San Francisco's South Financial District. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the building was completed in 2000 and was acquired by the Hines U.S. Core Office Fund in 2004.

101 Second Street has earned the ENERGY STAR label every year since 2006 and has a current rating of 91. As a result, the building performs 46 percent better and saves $1.51 in energy costs per square foot per year when compared to the national average building. This translates to estimated greenhouse gas reductions equivalent to removing approximately 245 passenger vehicles from the road.
