| Strabag builds Nairobi Bypass Austrian construction firm Strabag will build and operate the Nairobi Bypass in Kenya as part of a public-private partnership (PPP). The total investment costs amount to about € 740 million. Strabag and its Israeli partner Shikun & Binui – each with a share of 50 % – will renew and expand about 45 km of the Nairobi Bypass in equal parts within four years and will operate the 106 km two-to-eight-lane road for a period of 30 years. The total investment costs include € 475 million in construction costs which will be financed using a hard toll model. The agreements are to be signed in January 2010, with the financial close expected in the second half of 2010. As a result, the new PPP project will probably form part of the Strabag order backlog from the second half of 2010. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
