| Blinds Chalet addresses the CPSC window blinds recall ![]() "Currently every window blinds product in our inventory has safety options available and often a free cordless upgrade. Also our blinds offer tassel cord consolidators which keep cords from being pulled back into the blind. The cords also break apart and release when force is exerted in the downward direction." Reportedly the massive recall was found necessary after the CPSC tracked 16 near strangulations in addition to 5 fatal strangulations. Millions of products have already been recalled by brand, but this final recall has a much wider scope and incorporates the roman blinds regardless of brand distinctions. The Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) is in support of the window blinds recall. This organization actively identifies safety issues in relation to window treatments and offers solutions. According to the WCSC records there have been approximately 200 infant and children deaths since 1990 that are directly related to cords from window treatments. Blinds Chalet suggests general safety measures that homeowners should consider include: 1. Examining all window coverings for exposed cords that could pose a danger to children. 2. Installing cordless products when possible. 3. Arranging furniture so that there are no large pieces near windows. 4. Installing tension devices to keep any looped bead chains and/or cords taut. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
