| Caterpillar Forest Products upgrades innovative bunching saw ![]() Recent enhancements improve performance and lower operating costs. The discharge chute has been enlarged 130% to quickly exhaust chips and debris from the saw housing. Additional design changes to the saw housing shed debris from the top of the disc and safely direct it toward the ground to improve saw performance, eliminate plugging and greatly reduce wear. Hydraulic hoses have been upsized and rerouted to improve reliability. A new bulkhead holds the bunching finger hoses neatly in place and reduces wear. The bulkhead is removable allowing easy access to hoses when servicing is required. From front to back, all guards that protect hoses and the saw motor have been beefed up to prevent debris build-up and damage from high capacity bunching. Improvements include better bolt retention and reinforced guard supports. The Prentice SH-50 bunching saw is available for the Cat 553 and Cat 563 wheel feller bunchers. When installed on the larger carrier, the Cat 563, the full capacity of this attachment can maximize production in both thinning and clear cutting applications. The SH-50 can bunch 13-15 6-in. diameter trees or 25-27 4-in. diameter trees. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Construction News :: home page |
