| Germany's Hochtief announces new contracts in Australia Hochtief subsidiary Leighton and its Group companies report two successes notched up in Australia, worth EUR 283 million (AUD 460 million): Leighton's subsidiary Nextgen will put in place key infrastructure for the National Broadband Network (NBN) for the Australian government. The contract has a volume of almost EUR 154 million (AUD 250 million). Only recently did Leighton Properties sell the King George Central Tower development in Brisbane's CBD even before construction started. The Leighton subsidiary achieved a price of more than EUR 129 million (AUD 210 million) for the property. Nextgen will build fiber optic cable networks for the NBN project and thus provide 395,000 people in 14 regions with a faster and less costly Internet access. The works are planned to be finalized within 18 months.
