| Mott MacDonald helps with rehabilitation of Nalubaale Bridge UK management and engineering firm Mott MacDonald has been appointed by the Uganda National Road Authority to assist with rehabilitation design for the Nalubaale Bridge in Uganda. Crossing the Nalubaale Dam and the river Nile at Jinja, this bridge built in 1954, is also a major crossing for the Northern Corridor route which links Mombasa with Kampala, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, acting as the main highway between Uganda and its central African neighbours to the Indian Coast. Inspections have revealed serious deterioration of some of the bridge piers below water level. In addition, there is increasing movement between some of the deck slab elements over the cantilevered section of the bridge. Mott MacDonald has been commissioned to design and recommend appropriate solutions to restore the integrity of the bridge and this includes providing technical guidance for tender documents for the emergency works, followed by assisting with tender evaluation and construction supervision.
