Ferrovial, Budimex to construct a stretch of highway in Poland

A consortium formed by Budimex Dromex, a subsidiary of Poland's top construction firm Budimex and its strategic investor, Spanish firm Ferrovial Agroman has signed a contract with the Rzeszow regional office of the Polish Roads and Highways Agency for the design and construction of a 25 km stretch of the A4 highway in southern Poland. The contract amounts to 794.4 million zlotys (c.189 million euros).

The A4 traverses 670 km through Poland, from the town of Zgorzelec to the border with Ukraine (Korczowa-Krakowiec). The entire route forms part of the international E40 highway, and is forecast for completion by April 2012.

The A4 highway is an important communication route linking the country's main highways. At the Krzyzowa intersection, it joins the A18 highway, which leads to the former border crossing with Germany; at the Nowa Wies intersection, it cross the Wroclaw bypass, which is currently under construction; and close to Sosnica, the road joins with the A1 (Gdansk-Gorzyczki).
